Do you have a Servant’s Heart?
A Servant’s Heart comes in many forms. Some choose to be the Lord’s servant by physically tending to others and meeting their needs, others serve by physically volunteering some of their time to a Godly cause for some given amount of time each day, week, other time, and others are unable to do any of the physical work but are financially able to help provide that the work of others might be carried out.
Appalachian ministry has a need for all the following:
Packers - to volunteer any time each Tuesday to help pack the donated items into containers that will be shipped to the Appalachian Mountains. You can set you own hours and each minute you can work will be greatly appreciated.
Loaders – We need able body men who are desiring to serve by helping us palletize packed goods on pallets and then place them on the truck each Tuesday at 5PM and the hours fluctuate with the weather and the time of the year. If you would like to participate on the loading crew, please send your email to Pete, Phyllis or John and we will have your name added to the list to get a weekly invite with the date and time of the loading.
Pick up teams – these teams are individuals who have a pickup truck or trailer and would be willing to pick up goods on a specific day of the week. You will be notified and provided with the name, address, and phone number for the pickup.
If this is your Servant’s Heart for this ministry please contact Pete, Phyllis, or John and we will put your name down and contact you when we have items to pick up. We hope to get enough teams that we will only have to call you once per week or less depending on the number of items that should be picked up. We encourage people to drop it off at the Appalachian Building (744 Lake Joy Road, WR) but some people have very nice items but no way to get it to us, thus the need for a pick-up.
Drivers - We also have a need for driver’s. These individuals are required to drive the diesel box truck up to the Appalachian Mountains and drop off the load that we are sending to one of the current eight sites that we are supporting. (Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia) On the long trips, all except Copperhill, Tn. and Taylor’s S.C. The driver is encouraged to spend a night on the road as it is 7-9.5 hours of one way driving time unless two drivers share the driving and then they will go and come in the same day. If one driver drives, we will pay for the hotel and a meal to spend the night. If you would like to be put on the Driver’s List, please contact Pete and he will put you on the list.
Financial Assistance – We cannot make any of the trips without the donations of people with a Servant’s Heart. These donations can be a one time, monthly, quarterly, or anytime by sending a check to Rehoboth Baptist Assoc. marked for Appalachian Mountain Ministry. These donations are tax deductible and are used to buy fuel, repair the truck, pay for driver’s hotel stay, and only those things that are required to move the material from Warner Robins to the Appalachian Mountains. The average trip depending on the price of diesel is $375.00. This is a very large need for this ministry as we take around 50 loads per year.
Please pray and let God tell you how you might be able to help this ministry. If you can spare 1 day, 1 hour or more a week or month to pack, load, drive, or do what's needed for Appalachian Ministry then please call Pete Soots at 478-396-9316 or Phyllis Johnson at 478-396-9065.
It's a great feeling to be part of a ministry that gives to others in need.
